Tony Watson secures first save of the season
by Jon Mathisen | Sun, Sep 6th 12:30pm EDT
Tony Watson worked a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday and was able to pick up the save for the Giants as they held on to beat the D-backs 4-3.
Fantasy Impact:
This was a bullpen game for San Francisco as they employed seven pitchers after starter Trevor Cahill was yanked after 2.2 innings. Watson was tasked with protecting a one run lead in the top of the ninth inning and recorded two groundouts and a line out to lock up his first save of 2020. The left-hander has been excellent out of the pen this year with a 0.75 ERA, 0.67 WHIP, and a 9:2 K/BB ratio over 12 innings. There isn't a lot of volume here, though, and the fact this was his first save of the year shows his lack of value in standard mixed leagues. However, he does have six holds, and has some value in leagues that count that statistic.
