Rene Rivera transferred to 45-day IL ahead of elbow surgery

Mets catcher René Rivera will have surgery on Wednesday to remove a bone spur from his left elbow and has been transferred to the 45-day injured list. (Anthony DiComo on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Rivera had only appeared in two games for the Mets this year and he'll now miss the rest of the season as he recovers from elbow surgery. And for a catcher pushing 38 years old, it's possible this could be the end of the road for Rivera.
