No Surprise here - Anthony Ranaudo leaves start early with elbow discomfort

The Texas Rangers play their home games during Spring Training in Surprise, AZ, but for fans of the team, it should come as no surprise that Anthony Ranaudo was forced to leave his start Thursday with elbow discomfort. (www.mlb.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Ranaudo's bid to earn the fifth spot in the rotation hit a couple of speed bumps. First, he allowed three runs and four hits in just 2 1/3 innings of work. Second, he had to leave early when he started feeling some right elbow discomfort. True, he was only slated to throw three innings and 50 pitches (he tossed 44 on the outing), so he came close to reaching his limit. But the fact is that he "felt a grab" after throwing a curveball. Ranaudo went and got treatment and threw a little on the practice field later, and claims it's "nothing major" but the way this team has been snake-bit by injuries over the past year-plus, I'll believe it when I see him take the mound for his next start.
