Week 11 Outlook
Availability
Free agent quarterback Christian Hackenburg has agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Fantasy Impact
Hackenburg will have an uphill battle to stick on the Phildelphia roster and is likely not much more than a training camp arm at this point. With Carson Wentz not participating in the full-team portions of practice and backup Nick Foles already banged up, Hackenburg could get plenty of opportunities in practice alongside fellow quarterbacks Nate Sudfeld and Joe Callahan, but he will need an injury or a trade for any realistic shot at staying on the roster.
Two days after being released by Oakland and going unclaimed on waivers, former second-round QB Christian Hackenberg visited the New England Patriots on Thursday.
Fantasy Impact
Tom Brady will be 41 when the season opens and the Patriots have Brian Hoyer and 2018 seventh-rounder Danny Etling on the roster. If any team could salvage Hackenberg, it would likely be Bill Belichick's Patriots but sources say a contract offer is unlikely at this time.
Less than a month after acquiring him for a conditional 2019 seventh-round draft pick, the Oakland Raiders released former second-round signal-caller Christian Hackenberg. The Raiders will march forward with E.J. Manuel and Connor Cook behind Derek Carr. The Raiders will also keep their 2019 draft pick that was part of the deal.
Fantasy Impact
Hackenberg never came close to taking a regular season snap for the Jets and didn't even make it through the first week of OTAs in Oakland. He's running out of chances to stay in the NFL and has zero fantasy value.
ESPN's Field Yates is reporting the New York Jets have traded QB Christian Hackenberg to the Oakland Raiders for conditional seventh-round draft compensation in 2019.
Fantasy Impact
Now that the Jets have traded away both Hackenberg and Bryce Petty, it is pretty clear that barring injury, New York will enter 2018 with Josh McCown, Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Darnold manning their QB depth chart. For Hackenberg, the former second-round pick will compete for a spot on the Raiders chart behind Derek Carr.
Christian Hackenberg went 12-for-21 with 126 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in a 32-31 loss.
Fantasy Impact
Hackenberg did end up throwing a touchdown, but that was only because Bryce Petty got hurt and he was facing the backup defense. When he played against the starting defense it was very bad, he had two interceptions, both of them being returned for touchdowns. He is going to be the backup for the Jets, so do not draft him.
