Week 16 Outlook
Availability
Brandon Lloyd had one catch for 12 yards on 2 targets.
Fantasy Impact
He remains fantasy irrelevant. The 49ers have been harping for a down-field threat but have failed to utilize Lloyd for that purpose. He was out of football last year and may be back out of it next year due to his age.
49ers' deep threat Brandon Lloyd is among the inactive players for the 49ers-Raiders tilt Sunday in Oakland.
Fantasy Impact
Lloyd was listed as probable on the official 49ers injury report Friday, so his inability to go wasn't anticipated. Second year WR Quinton Patton is active in his place. Neither holds real fantasy value.
Veteran WR Brandon Lloyd has been listed as inactive for the 49ers week 2 Sunday Night matchup against the Chicago Bears.
Fantasy Impact
Lloyd did not register a stat line in week 1 either for the San Francisco 49ers. Instead, additional WR duties will be handled by Steve Johnson and Bruce Ellington, although only Johnson registered any receptions among the 3 last week. Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree, along with TE Vernon Davis, will remain the primary targets for Colin Kaepernick.
San Francisco veteran wideout Brandon Lloyd left practice early on Wednesday due to injury. While the team would disclose specifics of the injury, he is expected to miss 1-2 weeks. This news comes after the team revealed that WR Michael Crabtree is also expected to be out for the same amount of time.
Fantasy Impact
While both players missing training camp is bad news for the Niners, the injury could be especially harmful for Lloyd. Despite impressing the coaching staff with his intelligence and work ethic, he is coming back from a year away from the NFL and in heavy competition for a roster spot. It will take a quick recovery and strong preseason showing for Lloyd to be worth falling onto anyone's fantasy radar.
After sitting out a year from professional football, it seems Brandon Lloyd is having no trouble getting back to football form or grasping the playbook. Lloyd had the benefit of playing in a West Coast style offense during his first stint with the Niners from 03’-05’as well as his college days at Illinois. Says Colin Kaepernick, “"It gives me that much more confidence that when I drop back, I'm going to have a receiver where he is supposed to be...For the most part, he's open by a step or two.“
Fantasy Impact
Lloyd, who turned 33 earlier this month, last played in the NFL back in 2012 with the Patriots, so it’s nice to see he is still in football shape. He is, however, likely behind both Anquan Boldin and Stevie Johnson on the depth chart, and could even be beat out by rookie Bruce Ellington for the fourth receiver spot. Barring an injury to Boldin and/or Johnson, Lloyd should remain undrafted in all but the deepest of leagues.
