Michael Cuddyer has retired at the age of 36

Michael Cuddyer is calling it quits after 15 great seasons in the MLB with a career batting average of .277, 197 home runs, 794 runs batted in, and a total of 1,522 hits. He played for the Minnesota Twins, Colorado Rockies, and the New York Mets.

With this news coming out of no where and shocking a lot of Mets and baseball fans, it can potentially be a good thing for the Mets since he had one more year left on his contract worth around $12 million. He was the bat that the lineup needed last offseason when Sandy Alderson signed him, even though he didn't have his best year. With this news, it gives the Mets more cap space to potentially sign an outfielder or use it for help in the bullpen.
