Eligibility
The New York Mets have signed reliever Jorge Lopez to a one-year contract worth $2 million.
Fantasy Impact
Lopez was dynamite between the Orioles and Twins in the 2022 season, tossing a 2.54 ERA across 67 appearances while racking up 23 saves in the process. Disaster struck in 2023, however, as the former starter tossed a 5.95 ERA in 61 appearances between the Twins, Marlins, and Orioles.
Jorge López and the New York Mets are in agreement on a one-year, $2 million contract.
Fantasy Impact
Lopez struggled this past season posting a 5.95 ERA across 61 appearances with the Twins, Marlins and Orioles but he was an All-Star the season before. He should provide some experience towards the back-end of the Mets bullpen.
The Orioles activated RHP Jorge Lopez after claiming him off waivers.
Fantasy Impact
Lopez started the year with the Twins before being traded to the Marlins mid-season. He will get a chance to rejoin the Orioles, the team that he had immense success with in 2022. If the Orioles can turn back the clock and get Lopez to his pre All-Star break form in 2022, they could have a solid depth piece in their bullpen.
The Minnesota Twins have traded Jorge Lopez to the Miami Marlins in exchange for Dylan Floro.
Fantasy Impact
It has been a rough season overall for Lopez with a 5.09 ERA, but he has seemed to turn a small corner as of late. Lopez has history as a closer with the Orioles and it is possible he takes over that role for Miami with A.J. Puk recently struggling as the Marlins closer.
Jorge Lopez continued his impressive season, tossing a perfect inning with two strikeouts to earn his fourth save of the year in the Twins' 5-3 victory over the Padres.
Fantasy Impact
The right-hander has been a reliable option out of the bullpen all season, posting a 1.59 ERA and 0.88 WHIP over 18 appearances. With a solid 3.25 strikeout-to-walk ratio and a 3.23 FIP, Lopez has been a key piece of the Twins' bullpen and should continue to see high-leverage opportunities moving forward.
