Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Travis Sanheim has signed an eight-year contract extension with an average annual value of $6.25M. (Chris Johnston on Twitter)

A budding two-way defender, the 26-year-old Sanehim has gained long-term security with Thursday's contract extension. Sanheim recorded seven goals and 31 points in 80 games last season, but his 142 blocks ranked 20th league-wide. He'll need to take a step forward offensively to gain the trust of fantasy owners.
