Week 13 Outlook
Availability
Phillips caught both of his targets for 15 yards with a long of 10 yards, and no yards after catch on either receptions.
Fantasy Impact
Phillips' usage with Coby Fleener playing continues to be blocking snaps dominant. Unless there is an injury, Fleener is the man to play for those desperate to start a New Orleans Saints tight end.
Phillips, mainly known for his blocking role, caught his only target for nine yards on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
Barring a Coby Fleener injury or a fluke play, expect Phillips' role in the offense to remain in the basement of fantasy points.
John Phillips, typically resigned only to blocking snaps, was able to snag a reception in the Saint's loss to Tampa Bay.
Fantasy Impact
The Saints have shown previously they are willing to ride the hot hand at tight end. With the injured Josh Hill moving to injured reserve, it is worth monitoring John Phillips and Coby Fleener's snap counts down the stretch. For now, Phillips remains avoidable in all formats.
With TE Virgil Green out and TE Jeff Heuerman making his season debut, TE John Phillips got a few more snaps then he expected. Phillips caught two passes for nine yards and a TD.
Fantasy Impact
Phillips isn't on the fantasy radar as TE Virgil Green is expected back for Week 4.
Starting in place of injured Tight End Ladarius Green, John Phillips caught all four of his targets for 35 yards. For a guy who normally is viewed as purely a blocking specialist, he flashed great hands. His day was highlighted by a diving one-handed grab.
Fantasy Impact
With Antonio Gates set to return in Week 5 and Ladarius Green working through concussion protocol, Phillips fantasy value is minimal for the long-term.
