NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting free agent linebacker Dan Skuta signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears on Monday.
Fantasy Impact
Skuta, formerly of the Jaguars, signed with the Bears on Monday. The 31-year-old linebacker has not started a full 16 games season since 2013 and is coming off back-to-back years of appearing in 13 games in Jacksonville. Skuta's addition will provide Chicago with veteran leadership on and off the field, plus, depth at his position.
According to the Orange County District Attorney's Office, Jacksonville Jaguars LB Dan Skuta will not face charges stemming from his alleged incident in June where he was accused of first-degree battery in Orange County, Florida.
Fantasy Impact
In the wake of these reports, Dan Skuta will not face charges from the state and will not face disciplinary action from the NFL stemming from his alleged incident. Skuta will partake in a training camp position battle with rookie Myles Jack for one of the starting outside linebacker spots on Jacksonville's retooled defense. Jacksonville' D/ST could be a sleeper in the upcoming fantasy football campaign due to their high-profile offseason additions that include the aforementioned Jack, Jalen Ramsey, Prince Amukamara and Malik Jackson.
Jacksonville Jaguars LB Dan Skuta was arrested on June 19 for a first-degree battery charge in Orange County, Florida.
Fantasy Impact
Dan Skuta will likely face a penalty from the NFL if he is convicted from his recent arrest. The seven-year veteran was expected to be in a position battle with rookie Myles Jack for the starting outside linebacker spot on the defense and this incident could land him on the outside looking in.
Dan Skuta is set to move on to Jacksonville after two seasons in San Francisco.
Fantasy Impact
The most mild of the 49ers' defensive losses today, Skuta was a backup for the 49ers that was thrust into action via suspension and injuries. A better real-life player than IDP option, Skuta will have to drastically change his game to be fantasy relevant in 2015.
Dan Skuta had a sack and two tackles vs. Seahawks.
Fantasy Impact
Skuta is at the bottom of the 49ers' linebacker rotation, and was only thrust into action due to a myriad of injuries. He offers limited upside and is pretty much everything he will be, so he isn't even a dynasty option.
