George Winn waived by Detroit

George Winn, who played a minor role in Detroit's backfield in 2014 and spent time on the practice squad and as a backup in 2015, has been released by the Lions. (Michael Rothstein via Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
This is a relatively unsurprising move by Lions' general manager Bob Quinn. Local undrafted product Winn hasn't produced much in his time in the league and offered only minor special-teams value. The ascendance of seventh-round draft pick Dwayne Washington this preseason likely played a role in Winn's release.
