James Hanna to undergo surgery
by Anthony Cervino | Tue, Aug 16th 7:12am EDT
Dallas Cowboys TE James Hanna (knee) will undergo knee surgery and his status for the September 11 regular-season opener against the New York Giants is in doubt as a result of the procedure. Hanna could open the year on the reserve/ PUP list that will force him to remain sidelined for the first six games of the campaign per league rules. (ESPN)
Fantasy Impact:
Hanna was projected to open the season as the No. 2 tight end on the Dallas Cowboys behind Jason Witten. Gavin Escobar, who recently returned from a torn Achilles is next in line for Hanna's spot on the depth chart until his uncertain return. The always reliable and durable Witten is the only tight end on the Cowboys who will garner fantasy value to open the year.
