Donteea Dye finds his niche as a deep threat
by Chris Zolli | Fri, Dec 18th 12:19pm EST
Donteea Dye was targeted five times on Thursday, catching only one pass, but it was a 44-yard reception in the 31-23 loss to the Rams. This was the first catch longer than 16 yards in Dye's young career and the five targets were the most that Dye had seen from QB Jameis Winston.
Fantasy Impact:
With Dye being targeted as a deep threat, he has value as a deep sleeper pick for the championship round. Although he has only caught six of his 20 targets this season, the fact that the Buccaneers will go vertical with Dye gives potential for touchdowns and bonus points for big plays from the rookie. The Buccaneers face the Bears' 11th-ranked defense against fantasy WR, giving a reason to be bullish about Dye next week, but their is potential for the speedster.
