Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa left Thursday night's game against the Bills with an apparent head injury after running for a first down in the third quarter and was quickly ruled out with a concussion. He stayed down on the field for a brief period of time but was eventually able to leave under his own power. Skyler Thompsons replaced Tua at QB for Miami. (Tom Pelissero on X)
Fantasy Impact:
Tua has a well-documented history of concussions, and a severe one he suffered actually led the NFL to change some of their head injury policies. For the second time on national television, Tagovailoa appeared to have a fencing response -- an involuntary posture that can occur after a traumatic brain injury -- after a collision on a football field. His teammates took a knee to show their support almost immediately, though the veteran QB was ultimately able to leave the field under his own power. First and foremost, the concern here is Tua's health and well-being. Everything else, including potential fantasy impact, is secondary. Last year, Tua admitted that he considered retiring from football because of his head injuries. This latest injury might bring those considerations back to the forefront. With Skylar Thompson at QB, the entire Miami offense gets downgraded in fantasy value.
