Sean McVay said Jimmy Garoppolo likely won't play this preseason: "I think it's important for Stetson to get a bunch of work and Jimmy's played a lot in this league, but if he said that he thought he wanted to, knowing that he's going to miss [Week 1 and 2], I'd be open to it."

Bennett will likely see the bulk of the playing time in the preseason after McVay stated that Jimmy Garoppolo will not play in the preseason. Bennett missed the 2023 season after being placed on the reserve/non-football injury list due to personal reasons.
