Fantasy Impact:
This should not be taken as an indictment of McCarthy as free agent veteran acquisition Sam Darnold has been a standout in Vikings camp this offseason. He looks like the early favorite to start over the rookie, who HC Kevin O'Connell said is continuing to work on progress and not perfection. McCarthy is still working his way toward becoming the team's franchise QB, but he is not quite there yet.
