O'Connell reportedly is a new man this season, having spent time in the locker room reshaping his body and is carrying a new swagger, said Vic Tafur and Tashan Reed of The Athletic. They mentioned that the structure of training camp could favor O'Connell, but head coach Antonio Pierce liked Gardner Minshew II's toughness. The Raiders may have overpaid for Minshew and the early season starter may not have job security, but as of now, it appears O'Connell has the inside track to be the Week 1 QB1.
