Thompson suffered an ankle injury during Monday's loss and will undergo further testing on Tuesday to determine the severity of it. HC Frank Reich described it as 'significant', and he is likely to miss the remainder of the season because of it. Carolina's defense has already been struggling with injuries, so losing one of their top veteran players is less than ideal. Kamu Grugier-Hill is the next up on the depth chart to replace the team captain.
