Jack Campbell not considered lock to start
by Jordan Epp | Lions Correspondent | Tue, Jun 13th 10:05am EDT
According to Kevin Patra of nfl.com, Detroit Lions LB coach Kelvin Sheppard says first-round LB Jack Campbell is not a lock to start this season and has to earn his role. (Kevin Patra, nfl.com)
Fantasy Impact:
Sheppard said that on most teams Campbell would be considered a shoo-in to start, but in Detroit, he has to earn his spot as a starter. Culture has been an important part of head coach Dan Campbell’s tenure with the Lions, and this just further exemplifies the way his team operates. The Lions are currently using veteran LBs Alex Anzalone and Derrick Barnes in starting offseason reps while last year’s starter Malcolm Rodriguez is out with a leg injury. Campbell will have to work his way during training camp into being one of the top 2-3 LBs on the roster in it order to see the field much as a rookie.
