Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel announced Monday that Tua Tagovailoa has officially been ruled out for Week 5’s matchup against the Jets as reported by Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post. (Hal Habib on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Tua suffered a head/neck injury and possible brain damage in Week 4, exacerbating a likely concussion that was misdiagnosed in Week 3. Tua remains out indefinitely as he recovers from multiple head trauma within days of each other and the effects thereof. Fantasy managers should make other plans at QB for the foreseeable future, possibly the rest of the season, as the season heads into Week 5 and beyond. Veteran Teddy Bridgewater, who took over in Week 4 when Tua exited, will continue to start at quarterback for Miami, presumably as long as Tua is out. Bridgewater completed 14-of-23 pass attempts with one touchdown and one interception in relief of Tua against the Bengals. He is a serviceable quarterback but should not be expected to be a 1:1 replacement for Tua’s fantasy managers, even throwing to Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, but they could do a lot worse while without the lefty’s services.
