Shi Smith 'getting extensive work' with first-team offense

According to Doug Kyed, WR Shi Smith has looked good in practice and has been "getting extensive work in the slot with the first-team offense and making plays." (Doug Kyed on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
This is big news for the 2021 sixth-round pick who only recorded six receptions for 104 yards during his rookie year. With Terrance Marshall working back from a lower leg issue, Smith is unlikely to be a starter come the regular season, but it's a good sign that he's been performing well when given opportunities. Smith is battling with Brandon Zylstra for the Panthers' WR4 spot, so it's possible that he could see significant playing time if a starter were to go down with an injury.
