Fantasy Impact:
Gandy-Golden, who was a fourth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft for Washington, has been unable to make an impact up to this point at the NFL level, having only one catch for three yards in two seasons. A standout WR for Liberty during his collegiate career, Gandy-Golden has the frame to make the transition to TE, measuring in at 6’4” but only 223 pounds. Gandy-Golden has reportedly been bulking up this offseason while trying to stay lean in an effort to gain the strength required for his new position without losing too much of the speed and athleticism that makes him a threat as a receiver. There have been a few WRs in recent years who have attempted this position change, with the most recent examples being New Orleans’ Juwan Johnson and the Eagles’ J.J. Arcega-Whiteside. The most notable transition in recent history is Darren Waller, who played WR at Georgia Tech before becoming a difference-making TE for fantasy managers. At this point, Gandy-Golden has no fantasy value in redraft leagues, but if training camp reports start singing his praises then he could be worth a speculative add in dynasty leagues with deep rosters.
