Landon Collins: Commanders to release Landon Collins
by Benjamin Leier | Thu, Mar 10th 12:15pm EST
Washington is expected to release Collins after three seasons with the team. $9.6 million of his salary will count against the Commanders cap in 2022. (Ian Rapoport)
Fantasy Impact:
Collins had his role adjusted in 2021, as the Football Team moved him into more of a hybrid role. The move worked well for the Washington defense, but Collins stated that while he accepted the role, he prefers to play in a traditional strong safety role. He was scheduled to count $16.2 against the Commanders salary cap, but the Commanders alleviated $6.6 million in space with the release. Collins struggled with injury at times in Washington, but a team that plays a traditional two-safety defensive backfield will greatly benefit from Collins' immense talent. He will be a popular target when free agency begins.
