Former free agent running back Kerryon Johnson has reportedly been signed to the San Francisco 49ers practice squad on Tuesday, per Adam Schefter. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Johnson was brought in by the Philadelphia Eagles but failed to solidify a role in a crowded backfield. As a result, he is signing with the 49ers, who lean heavily on their running backs to keep their West Coast offensive zone-blocking scheme functioning properly. After the season-ending surgery that Raheem Mostert is set to undergo, adding a veteran running back to the practice squad holds little fantasy value. However, should injuries continue within the 49ers' backfield, Johnson could receive an opportunity to earn game reps on one of the most run-centric teams in the league.
