Alshon Jeffery expected to be released by Eagles once season starts

According to Ian Rapoport, the Eagles are expected to release wide receiver Alshon Jeffery heading into the 2021 season. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
This comes as no surprise as Jeffrey has only started in 12 games over the last two years while being the tenth-highest paid player on the team and most expensive wide receiver. He carries a dead cap hit of $10.5M as opposed to his salary of approximately $6.5M. The Eagles seem set on heading into the 2021 season with a younger corps of receivers even if it means eating some money. In the wake of the Carson Wentz trade, Jalen Hurts seems poised to take over as the Week 1 starter. But with free agency opening up in less than a month, the Eagles may opt to bring in a veteran. Alshon will be a likely candidate for a one-year "prove it" deal as the 31-year-old has struggled to stay healthy the last few years and hasn't had a 1,000-yard season since 2014 in Chicago.
