It's the end of an era in Pittsburgh. Troy Polamalu walks away from football at 33-years-old. The Steelers had been quietly urging Polamalu to retire so they wouldn't have to cut him. In his 12 seasons with the Steelers, Polamalu logged 8 Pro Bowls, 2 Super Bowls and snagged Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2010. He's likely headed to the NFL Hall of Fame after a brilliant career full of fearless highlights.
Fantasy Impact:
Polamalu's retirement frees up much needed cap space. The Steelers DST unit wasn't even worth starting most weeks in 2014 fantasy. Now the Steelers DST is slowly gaining value with a rebuild. Shamarko Thomas is next in line to secure Strong Safety duties in 2015.
