Texans pursuing defensive lineman Antonio Smith?
by Matt Giraldi | Tue, Mar 31st 7:10pm EDT
Recently cut by the Oakland Raiders in a cap-saving move, Antonio Smith could be on his way back to the Houston Texans, where he spent five seasons along their defensive line. Smith would provide additional depth on a defensive line that has already added Vince Wilfork this offseason. While not strong in run support, he can still get after the quarterback even at 33 years old. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Despite the low level of sacks last season by Smith, he was one of the best 3-4 defensive ends at getting pressure on the quarterback last season according to Pro Football Focus. The Houston Texans' front seven is shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with in the fantasy community. While the secondary still needs help, the Texans have clearly improved along the defensive line this offseason, even they don't sign Smith.
