Eric Decker announces retirement from NFL
by Mark Leipold | Sun, Aug 26th 3:33pm EDT
Eric Decker, who signed with the New England Patriots in the wake of the injury and subsequent release of Jordan Matthews, has announced his retirement from the NFL after 11 seasons. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Decker was reportedly on the roster bubble anyway, and on the outside looking in, so this isn't a big surprise for the veteran receiver. The important fantasy news for this is the coming rumors about Dez Bryant (which I would call unlikely to come to fruition), and the still-available role in the slot, which may be played by anyone ranging from Phillip Dorsett to rookie Braxton Berrios to Riley McCarron. Keep an eye on the Patriots' receiving corps for the rest of preseason.
