Dallas Cowboys beat writer Rob Phillips is reporting the team has released pass rusher Benson Mayowa. (Rob Phillips on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
After two seasons in Dallas, the Cowboys have released Mayowa in a move that will clear $2.75 million of much-needed cap space -- as of today, the Cowboys have less than $15k in cap space. While accumulating a career-high six sacks in 2016, Mayowa regressed mightily, recording one in 2017. Although his regression was likely due to the emergence of Demarcus Lawrence, I still believe his successful 2016 campaign was an anomaly. Still, the veteran pass rusher should be able to land with a new club at some point this offseason. Though he may have to wait until the conclusion of the NFL Draft as he is nothing more than a rotational asset and filler for the back end of a roster.
