Danny Woodhead to miss extended time with injury

by Anthony Cervino | Tue, Sep 12th 4:23pm EDT

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting Baltimore Ravens running back Danny Woodhead (hamstring) is expected to miss the next 4-to-6 weeks of football activities with a hamstring injury. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

The good news is that Woodhead will return at some point in 2017. The bad is that he will miss at least a month of football activities and is another blemish on his injury-filled resume. From a fantasy perspective, Woodhead's absence opens the door for Buck Allen. The Week 2 waiver wire add is in line to receive an expanded workload while Woodhead is out, likely, as the Ravens' early-down back. For Terrance West, he is expected to assume Woodhead's vacant role as the team's primary receiver out of the backfield, per reports, and is the Baltimore rusher with the most upside. Since this is likely a short-term injury for Woodhead, he should remain on fantasy rosters, especially in leagues with a deeper bench.
