Ryan Mathews, LeGarrette Blount to split workload?

ESPN's Josina Anderson is reporting Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles is suggesting Ryan Mathews and LeGarrette Blount will split the early-down workload in 2017. "I feel like we can share the ball and everyone can be happy," Sproles said Friday. "All have to know our role" (Josina Anderson on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
It appears the Eagles could retain Mathews after all in 2017. He was expected to be released for the duration of the offseason but remains with the club just weeks prior to the start of training camp. If Mathews is ultimately retained, he could split the early-down workload with Blount, the presumed starter, which could drastically change his fantasy value. Currently, most experts the believe Eagles will move on from the oft-injured Mathews and have Blount assuming the bulk of the carries on first and second downs, while Sproles maintains his role as the team's primary receiver out of the backfield and third-down back. If Mathews is there, and he cuts into Blount's workload, his fantasy value and ADP would likely take a nosedive. This is a situation that is worth monitoring as the offseason progresses.
