Latest Player Updates

Evan Engram has been released by the Jacksonville Jaguars. (Source: Michael DiRocco on X)

Fantasy Impact: Engram has been a great fantasy asset since coming to Jacksonville, but that time is now at its end. The new staff seems to be clearing house, and Engram is the latest skill position player to be released or traded, with Christian Kirk being traded just earlier today. Brian Thomas Jr. stands as the lone Jags pass catcher to roster in fantasy at the moment, and Engram will look to find a home elsewhere for the 2025 season.

Christian Kirk has been traded to the Houston Texans for a seventh round pick. Kirk was originally going to be released by the Jaguars, but the Texans came in with a deal to snag the receiver. (Source: Adam Schefter on X)

Fantasy Impact: Kirk got off to a slow start in 2024 but was on a near 1,000-yard pace in his final six games before missing the rest of the season. Kirk gives Houston a great No.2 option behind Nico Collins while Tank Dell recovers from his extensive knee injuries.

The Cincinnati Bengals have permitted Defensive Player of the Year finalist and star edge rusher Trey Hendrickson permission to pursue a trade. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Despite the public pressure from QB Joe Burrow to get all of their stars paid, the Bengals only have so much money to go around. Furthermore, Cincinnati historically has been a stickler front office regarding contract discussions, and given Hendrickson's expressed desire for a pay raise, a trade may be the best option for both parties. Hendrickson is coming off of consecutive 17.5-sack seasons (league leader in 2024) and had one season left on his deal. He requested a trade last offseason as well.

The San Francisco 49ers plan to release DT Javon Hargrave at the start of the league's new year, setting him up to be a free agent. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Hargrave joins a free agent DT class that has players who could be impactful but don't have name brands, so while Hargrave struggled with injury in 2024 (career-low defensive grade of 60.6 before triceps tear), he could certainly catch attention given his past performance (three straight seasons of 7.5+ sacks).

The Commanders have re-signed K Zane Gonzalez. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: In six games with Washington last season, Gonzalez connected on 5-of-7 field goals and 19-of-19 extra points. He'll head into next year as the Commanders starting kicker.

The Rams and WR Tutu Atwell reached agreement on a one-year, $10 million fully-guaranteed contract. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: This is a bit of a surprise after it had been reported last month that Atwell was unlikely to return to the Rams. He caught just 42 passes last season for 562 yards. It is possible he takes on a bigger role next year if the Rams move on from Cooper Kupp.

The Browns restructured Deshaun Watson’s contracting, clearing nearly $36 million in cap space. (Source: Field Yates on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: The Browns will owe Watson a minimum salary in 2025 and $46 million in 2026. It remains unclear what his status will be heading into next season after rupturing his Achilles in Week 7 of last year.

There have reportedly been multiple teams who have contacted the Bengals about the availability of Tee Higgins. (Source: Dianna Russini on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: It sounds like the Bengals still want to keep Higgins as the two sides continue to seek a long-term deal. The Bengals will continue to try to extend both him and Ja'Marr Chase.

The Seahawks are reportedly seeking a first and third-round pick in a trade for DK Metcalf. (Source: Dianna Russini on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Metcalf requested a trade on Wednesday and Seattle is starting with the asking price being high. The team trading for him will also have to extend him, so it seems unlikely the Seahawks will be able to acquire that much value for Metcalf. The Chargers and Patriots were recently linked to him.
