Timberwolves nearing buyout with Kevin Martin

Kevin Martin and the Minnesota Timberwolves are having "advanced talks" in buyout negotiations. If Martin stays with the team, he can use his player option for next season worth $7.4 million, a number he is unlikely to get in the free agent market. Owner Glen Taylor said he would be "open" to negotiations to keep Martin in Minnesota for another season adding, "you always need some guys with experience who can shoot threes." (Star Tribune)
