League sources say the Lakers are expected to sign free agent G JR Smith for the remainder of the 2019-20 season at Walt Disney World. (Marc Stein on Twitter)

Smith was linked to the Lakers a couple weeks ago, and now it’s seemingly become a reality. After learning of Avery Bradley’s decision to opt-out, the Lakers and Smith began conversations about him joining the team for the stretch run. He’s played with LeBron James before in Cleveland, and now gets the chance to win a championship with the King in Los Angeles. Smith will provide the Lakers with depth and scoring off the bench. Solid pickup for the Lakers heading into the season restart.
