Shane McClanahan
Shane McClanahan missed the entire 2024 season due to Tommy John surgery performed in August 2023. Prior to his injury, McClanahan had established himself as one of MLB's premier pitchers. Over his first three seasons (2021-2023), he compiled a 33-16 record with a stellar 3.02 ERA and 456 strikeouts across 404.2 innings. His 33.4% whiff rate ranked among the top 10 pitchers with at least 400 innings pitched during that span. As McClanahan returns for the 2025 season, it's important to note that this is his second Tommy John surgery, which may lead the Rays to manage his workload cautiously. Adding to this is that the Rays won't be playing in as strong of a pitching environment this season. McClanahan should still be an ace, but tempering expectations will serve fantasy managers well.
