Chris Parmelee an unsung hero for Yankees
by Chris Zolli | Thu, Jun 9th 7:12am EDT
Chris Parmelee slugged two home runs and smashed a double for the Yankees, finishing 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI. This game simply came out of nowhere, as he started at first base for the first time this season and these five at-bats are the first of the season. Parmelee had a .688 OPS in 97 at-bats with the Orioles last season.
Fantasy Impact:
The injury to Mark Teixeira at first base has given Robert Refsnyder and Parmelee opportunities at first base and yesterday's game shows that Parmelee might be a good option as the left-handed part of the platoon. He has a career .718 OPS in 914 at-bats, so do not expect too much from Parmelee in the future and he only has a .678 OPS against right-handed pitchers over the last three seasons. He had a .787 OPS and 15 extra-base hits in 151 at-bats with Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre this season.
