John Lamb pitches four strong innings, leaves with sprained thumb
by Justin Elick | Sun, May 8th 7:03pm EDT
Lamb was strong over four innings, allowing just one earned run on a solo home run by Ryan Braun in the first inning. He allowed just one other hit, walked one and struck out three before leaving in the fifth inning with a sprained thumb with the Reds leading 4-1. Steve Delabar took over and promptly gave up a home run to Hernan Perez before the rest of the Reds bullpen completed the implosion over the final four innings in a 5-4 loss.
Fantasy Impact:
Here's hoping that Lamb's thumb injury isn't serious. The Reds are already in dire straits as far as pitcher health with Homer Bailey, Anthony DeSclafani, and Raisel Iglesias all on the DL. We should get word about Lamb's status for his next start within the next day or two. Lamb has been solid over two starts, allowing just two earned runs over 10 innings of work. He's a viable option in all bigger mixed formats, but not one that you should be rushing to the wire to add until we hear confirmation that his injury isn't serious.
