Despite missing the final six Grapefruit League games with right oblique soreness, Gonzalez showed enough in recent workouts to convince Boston he’s healthy enough to contribute out of the gate. The 28-year-old will open the season in a bench role and is expected to draw some starts against left-handed pitching.
