Andrew Abbott (shoulder) lands on IL to begin season

The Reds placed Andrew Abbott on the 15-day injured list Wednesday as he continues to ramp up following a delayed start to spring due to a shoulder issue. (Cincinnati Reds)
Fantasy Impact:
Though Abbott built up to 50 pitches in his final Cactus League appearance, he's not yet ready for a full starter’s workload. The Reds opted to open the season cautiously, placing him on the IL with a potential return as early as April 8. If all goes smoothly in his buildup, Abbott should rejoin the rotation within the first couple weeks of the season. In the meantime, Carson Spiers is expected to serve as Cincinnati's fifth starter.
