Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Friday that Roansy Contreras will stretch out this spring for a possible starting or long relief role, per team reports.

Contreras is out of minor-league options, so he’s got to land on Baltimore’s Opening Day roster or hit waivers again—he’s been claimed five times this offseason, including twice by the O’s. Last year, he logged 46 relief appearances and just three starts, but his starter experience keeps him versatile.
