Ryan Bergert to start Padres spring training opener

Padres manager Mike Shildt said Ryan Bergert will get the start for Friday’s Cactus League opener against Seattle. (AJ Cassavell on Twitter)

Shildt said the front-line starters will work mostly on back fields early in camp. Bergert finished last season in Double-A where he posted a 4.78 ERA across 23 starts.
