Chris Sale to start Braves Grapefruit League opener

Chris Sale will take the mound for Atlanta’s Grapefruit League opener against the Twins on Saturday, per David O’Brien of The Athletic. While the team has yet to officially name an Opening Day starter, the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner is the clear favorite for the role. Sale logged 29 starts and 177.2 innings in 2024—his highest totals since 2017—and believes he has found a routine to stay healthy.
Fantasy Impact:
Sale’s workload will once again be managed with extra rest between starts, as manager Brian Snitker plans to limit his usage on four-day turnarounds. Given his effectiveness last season and continued durability concerns, fantasy managers should expect elite production when he’s on the mound, but his innings could be spaced out more than traditional aces. He remains a high-upside fantasy option with some workload-related risk.
