Spencer Horwitz (wrist) has sutures removed

Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday that Spencer Horwitz had the sutures removed from his surgically repaired right wrist earlier this week and remains on track to return in 6-to-8 weeks, per Noah Hiles of The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Horwitz has been cleared to resume fielding and swinging the bat with his left hand.
Fantasy Impact:
Horwitz was expected to be Pittsburgh’s everyday first baseman before the injury, but his absence to start the season opens the door for Jared Triolo or Billy Cook to see playing time at the position. If Horwitz stays on schedule, he could return by late April or early May. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues should monitor his rehab progress, as he could provide solid on-base skills once healthy.
