Nate Pearson's Outing: Unremarkable but Steady
by Matthew Adam | Cubs Correspondent | Tue, Sep 24th 6:05am EDT
Nate Pearson allowed one hit and one walk in a scoreless inning during Monday's 6-2 loss to the Phillies.
Fantasy Impact:
Despite not striking anyone out, Pearson managed to avoid any damage to his ERA, which remains inflated at 4.64 for the season. His performance this year has been a mixed bag with a decent strikeout rate of 10.0 K/9 but undermined by a high ERA and WHIP. Fantasy managers should view Pearson as a volatile option, primarily useful in deeper leagues or as a speculative hold in formats that reward holds, given his 11 holds this season. His inability to secure strikeouts in this outing does little to boost confidence in his rest-of-season upside.
