Mitch Keller mauled by Reds in rough outing
by Chris Schommer | Pirates Correspondent | Sat, Sep 21st 11:28am EDT
Mitch Keller struggled mightily in Friday's 8-3 loss to the Reds, surrendering eight earned runs on seven hits and five walks while striking out only one across three innings.
Fantasy Impact:
This performance significantly tarnishes what had been a relatively stable season for Keller, whose ERA ballooned to 4.21 and WHIP to 1.29. Given the sharp decline in command and the explosion of runs allowed, fantasy managers should be concerned about his reliability as the season winds down. His strikeout rate, which was a decent 8.3 K/9, took a hit today, further clouding his appeal in strikeout-heavy formats. This outing may necessitate a cautious approach from fantasy managers in his future starts.
