Taijuan Walker Walloped in Philly Fiasco
by Chase Davis | Phillies Correspondent | Fri, Sep 20th 8:56am EDT
Taijuan Walker struggled mightily in Thursday's 10-6 loss to the Mets, surrendering eight earned runs on six hits and three walks while striking out only two across 3.1 innings.
Fantasy Impact:
This outing only exacerbates an already troubling season for Walker, whose ERA ballooned to 6.91 and WHIP to 1.67 after this performance. His inability to suppress runs or effectively manage baserunners continues to diminish his fantasy relevance. With a strikeout rate (6.3 K/9) that offers little in the way of compensation for the runs and hits he's allowing, Walker is becoming a risky play in all but the deepest of fantasy leagues. His high FIP (6.94) suggests there might not be much positive regression on the horizon either.
