Josh Lowe's Speed Shines, Batting Stays Lukewarm
by Matthew Adam | Rays Correspondent | Tue, Sep 3rd 5:32am EDT
Josh Lowe went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in the Rays' 5-4 loss to the Twins.
Fantasy Impact:
Despite the multi-hit game, Lowe's season batting average remains a modest .247, reflecting a consistent struggle at the plate over 81 games. His speed, however, continues to be a bright spot, as evidenced by his 19th steal of the season. Fantasy managers should value Lowe for his stolen base potential, but his high strikeout rate (30.7%) and low walk rate (7.8%) limit his upside in formats that penalize for strikeouts or reward for on-base percentage. His performance does little to suggest a significant turnaround in batting productivity, so expectations should be tempered accordingly.
