Austin Wells scores twice in Yankees' narrow loss to Cardinals

by Chris Schommer | Yankees Correspondent | Sun, Sep 1st 7:15am EDT

Austin Wells went 2-for-5 with a double and scored twice in the Yankees' 6-5 defeat to the Cardinals.

Fantasy Impact:

Despite the team's loss, Wells's performance was a bright spot, adding a couple of hits to his season tally and crossing the plate twice. His season batting average now sits at .259, and while his power numbers are decent with 12 homers, his overall production has been somewhat inconsistent. Fantasy managers should appreciate his contributions in runs scored and occasional extra-base hits, but his moderate strikeout rate and batting average may limit his upside in shallower fantasy formats. Wells remains a viable option in deeper leagues, particularly those that value walks and on-base percentage, given his solid .343 wOBA.
