David Bednar removed from closer role

Pirates manager Derek Shelton said that David Bednar has, for now, been removed from the team’s closer role. (Noah Hiles on Twitter)

Shelton added that the closer role will be filled by a committee of relievers while Bednar gets work in lower leverage spots. He has struggled mightily over the past month in his role.
