Kyle Gibson struggled mightily in Monday's 7-4 loss to the Padres.

He allowed seven earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out only two over 4.1 innings. This performance inflates his ERA to 4.54 and continues a troubling trend for the veteran right-hander. Given his season-long WHIP of 1.38 and a K/9 of 8.2, Gibson's inconsistency is becoming a significant concern for fantasy managers. His FIP of 4.47 suggests some underlying issues that aren't just bad luck, as indicated by a fairly normal BABIP of .306.
